Pituitary Gland (Hypophysis)

Location of the Hypophysis

The hypophysis (pituitary gland) is located below the brain and is connected to it by a stalk in the middle of the skull. It is about the size of a cherry pit and is situated in a bony depression called the sella turcica. From an external perspective, the hypophysis is located at the level of the eyes, behind the bridge of the nose.
